Reprints and Vertical Files on postharvest technology of fruits, vegetables, root crops, and ornamentals are acquired from different journals, technical papers, research reports annual reviews, bulletins, books, and other publications. Reprints and vertical file are for room use only. 

These are indexed according to author, title arranged by subject category on postharvest and are filed with index number in the card catalogue. Subject coverage under each broad topic of fruits and vegetables includes pre-harvest affecting quality after harvest, harvesting, transport packinghouse operations, storage, ripening, postharvest pest diseases, and physiological disorders of fruits and vegetables. Students who wish to photocopy these materials may do so provided they have to leave their ID, fill up the borrower’s card and return the materials within the day. 

PHTRC Library has a collection of Undergraduate Theses, Masteral Theses and Ph.D. Dissertations on postharvest subjects. These materials are for room use only. 


Fines are charged to late return of books and other materials. 

  • P 1.00 for the first hour
  • P 5.00 each hour thereafter
  • P 50.00 whole day

Students/staff who failed to return overnight books the next day will be suspended from borrowing overnight books for six months aside from paying fines.


Lost books must be reported immediately to avoid accumulation of fines. The book must be replaced or paid within 30 days. Payment, if ever, should be equivalent to the book's current value together with the accrued fines which shall not exceed the current value.


A fine of P100.00 is charged for mutilation of library materials. In appropriate cases, suspension or expulsion from the university may be an additional penalty.


Non-UPLB visitors are only allowed to use the library every MONDAY and are required to pay a fee of P50.00 based on the UPLB Organic Act and the University Rules and Regulations (approved during the 1039th BOR Meeting on 14 March 1991). Referral Letter and valid Identification Card must be presented to the Librarian upon every visit.
